Passant

Passant describes an animal walking in profile, with three paws on the ground and the right forepaw raised. Unless the blazon says otherwise, a passant beast walks toward dexter, the viewer's left. Early heralds called any walking lion a leopard.

The arms of England are Gules, three lions passant guardant in pale Or: three gold lions walking in a column on red, each turning its head to look at you. The design has stayed the same since the reign of Richard I.

In the coat of arms maker, the Beasts group on the Charges tab has a lion passant guardant. Duplicate it to stack three in pale, set each to Or on a red field, or flip one to walk the other way. The coat of arms symbols guide covers what the lion stands for.
